3 Free Tactics To Increase Your Blog Traffic
If you are not careful, blogging can be very stressful, especially when you’re spending hours on every post and you’re not seeing any benefit. Unfortunately for us, Google doesn’t use hours spent as a ranking factor! In this post, we are going to discuss a few growth-hacking tips that will hopefully help you to increase your blog traffic.
Reverse Engineer Your Content
Okay so you are probably wondering what on earth we mean by that! Most people will tell you that you have to come up with quality, original content, but what you need to be doing is creating smarter content. In order to do this, you need to take a look at what is already out there, break it down and put your own unique spin on it, write it better in your own words, with your view point. The content topics have already been proven to work and you just need to make them 10 times better. In theory this will get you 10 times the amount of links, traffic, social shares etc. This may not always be the case but even if it gets you twice as much traffic it will definitely be worth it.
Boost your email marketing list
In order to get new email addresses from potential customers/clients, you need to be able to offer them something of value. This could be an interesting PDF document, an infographic, resource or video. If you are offering people something they will find useful in exchange for their email address they are far more likely to give it to you. Using this method as opposed to having a lack lustre pop up could see your email subscription conversions rise by as much as 785% which is great news for getting more traffic to your blog. If someone has been interested in your content in exchange for their email, you also know that your blog is relevant to them and that your traffic will be meaningful.
Promote your blog everywhere
In theory, you should already be doing this but it’s always useful to recap and upgrade what you are already doing.
Promote on social media – Don’t just send one tweet with the title of your post and a link. Send people @Mentions saying you think they’d love your post and to check it out, use hashtags to boost visibility, post on all relevant social media sites and reply to anyone who mentions your blog posts topic.
Post to forums – Forums aren’t as popular as they used to be, but there’s still a few in each niche that you should be taking advantage of. Post on these forums and you’re sure to get more visibility on your posts. Just make sure you’re not spamming forums with your content, engage a little while you’re there and make people think you’re part of the community.
Submit to social bookmarking sites – These are the bigger sites that have really taken over from forums. Sites like Reddit, StumbleUpon, Digg, Delicious etc. If your post does well on these sites you could be seeing hundreds of thousands of visits on your website in a couple of hours. So make sure your server can handle all that traffic at once!
Comment on other blogs – You love comments on your blog right? Well so do other people. Comment on their blogs and leave thoughtful comments to posts that are relevant to your blog. This will benefit in both your traffic and your SEO, so it’s well worth doing.
When you’re using these three ways to increase your blog traffic, make sure you’re sharing other people’s content two thirds of the time and you’re sharing your content a third of the time. Sharing your own content all of the time can give people a sense that you’re not part of the overall community and you’re on your own doing your own thing and don’t provide value you just promote. You can also share other bloggers posts and comment through social media to easily network and create relationships which could lead to collaborations later down the line.
If you start implementing these top tips, you should start seeing results quickly unlike SEO where you could spend two months trying to rank for a keyword just to see no change after another two months.
