5 Things Your Business Needs To Have In 2017

Are you ready for 2017? More importantly, is your business ready for 2017? This checklist highlights what your business should have in 2017. If your business has everything on this list, do an audit on each section, make sure you’re getting the most out of these channels.

Website

87.9% of adults in the UK regularly use the internet, that’s roughly 45.9 million people. If your company targets 16 to 24 year olds then this number is even higher, at 99.2% (source). These millions of people are looking at websites on the internet, buying products and services, and interacting with businesses. If you don’t have a website in 2017 you’re missing out on a lot of potential customers.

Social Media Presence

One of the most popular past times on the internet is social media with 32 million UK Facebook users, 15 million UK Twitter users and 14 million UK Instagram users (source). In a report from eMarketer, 77% of buyers said they are more likely to buy from a company if the CEO uses social media, and 82% trust the company more, so even if your company isn’t on social media you as a business owner should be. Make sure you use social media properly, a slip up on social media could go viral and damage your company reputation significantly.

Consistent Blog

If you’ve got your website up and running already you need to start marketing it. Blogging is the best way of getting users to your website on a budget. What you need to remember is to consistently blog. One blog one week and then a gap of 2 months then two blogs come out at the same time is not going to be as effective as a consistent daily, weekly, or bi-monthly blog. Publish content that your audience wants to read, not what your business wants to write. If you consistently post sales pitches, no one will want to read them, but if you publish content that helps solve a problem that you know your audience has, people will want to read them, create positive connotations with your company, and eventually buy from you.

Google MyBusiness Listing

This is the box on the right-hand side of your Google listing, this can also show up on non-branded searches too. Below is the Wright Angle Marketing Google My Business listing.

Many people will search for your company on Google and won’t even click through to your website as they just want quick access to your phone number or directions that work with Google Maps. This will also show up on Google Maps when a user types in a keyword that relates to your business, for example, if someone types into Google ‘marketing agency Halifax’ this is what comes up:

As you can see this shows above the organic search results and lists the agencies within the local area and their details. This is vital for any business that sells to the local area.

Email Marketing List

If you’ve sorted out your website, your blog, your social media and your Google My Business listing you need to be collecting customer and potential customer email addresses, this will allow you to remarket to them all year. This will be one of your key marketing tools as you can decide when something goes out, what that says, and how often it goes out.

 

If you build and consistently push these different marketing channels and marketing collateral throughout 2017 you will see an increase in customers.
